Natalie’s favorite books

You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax. All you need is a book.

Before Natalie was born, I would sit in her nursery and read to her from the many books we received at my baby shower. Guest were encouraged to bring a book rather than a card which we are so thankful for. I had to get two bookcases to fit them all in but honestly, I could use a third. I have made it a point to read to Natalie every day since she was born. Even in the I can’t possibly survive this sleep deprivation crazy and sleepy first few weeks. I think it’s so important for children to read not only because it’ll help them in school, but because reading is magic. It can take you to far away lands, whisk you into a world full of wizards and witches, or give you a much needed laugh after a long and stressful day. I never read when I was little and didn’t start to until I graduated from college. Since then, my love for reading has grown but I don’t want Natalie to have to wait that long to find out how amazing reading can be.

This morning, as I was getting ready for work, I peeked into Natalie’s room to check on her and I see that she has pulled out a few books from her bookcase and is looking down at them, talking with delight…almost as if she is reading from them out loud in her own little language. Below are some of her favorite books.

Madeline Loves Animals

Natalie loves animals so she enjoys going through the pages and making animal noises.

Old MacDonald Had a Band

Not going to lie, at first, this book was hard to sing along with because I’m so used to the original Old MaDonald had a barn song but as time has gone on, I can sing this book with my eye’s closed. Natalie ALWAYS picks this book out as one of the ones to read before bedtime and will clap her hands along to the beat.

The Wonderful Things You Will Be

I not only love the illustrations of this book but it has such a great message.

Ten Little Lady Bugs

This is a great counting book and Natalie loves the fact that the ladybugs stick out.

Goodnight Moon

Such a classic book. This one is special too because Andrew will always read this one to her and she loves it.

Barnyard Dance

This one is so much fun to read and Natalie will clap along to the song.

What are some of your favorite books to read? Right now I’m tackling the Harry Potter series!
